Fire hose reels provide a first-response firefighting tool for occupants, delivering a continuous water supply through a fixed hose that unwinds from a wall- or pipe-mounted reel. They are commonly rated for 19mm (3/4″) or 25–38mm (1–1.5″) hose in lengths of 20–36 metres (60–120 ft), and may be fixed, swinging, or automatic (self-retracting) types.
